Hello neighbors,

I’m Richard Davidson, and I’m running for Presiding Commissioner because I care deeply about our community and believe we can make Newton County government work better for every resident and business across our county.

Like many of you, my roots run deep in Newton County. My grandparents on both sides moved here more than 60 years ago looking for a better life. Four generations of my family have now called this place home. I was born and raised in Neosho, graduated from Neosho High School and Missouri Southern, and chose to come back here to raise my family and build my business.

For the past 30 years, I’ve run a local family business, and for 18 years I’ve served you in elected office — including 9 years as Mayor of Neosho. I’ve always believed government should treat every resident like a valued neighbor — with honesty, respect, and real care.

My Promises to You These are not just campaign commitments — they are promises backed by my proven track record. I have a history of making things happen in both business and public office. Proven leadership brings proven results.

My Top 3 Priorities:

1. Maximum Transparency & Open Government

• Live-stream all public meetings so everyone can watch
• Hold meetings at convenient times for working families
• Have all public documents online and easily accessible
• Quarterly listening posts around the county to hear from YOU on how we can work together to make Newton County BETTER!

2. Real Service & Convenience for All Residents

• Expand online services to reduce the need for long drives to Neosho for basic county business
• Explore providing county services in satellite offices in South Joplin / Northern Newton County
• Make our government MORE friendly and EASIER to do business with

3. Efficient & Responsible Government with a Clear Vision for Tomorrow

• Create a clear strategic plan for growth and funding priorities
• Be careful stewards of taxpayer dollars and make government work better with less waste
• Bigger isn’t always better — use technology and best practices to minimize government bloat
• Hold ALL office holders accountable for their duties and actions

I will always listen to residents and local leaders, and I will work every day for all of Newton County — not just one area or one group.
